Aiding theUrbanisationProcess
C
hina is overseeing the largest migration of people in the
history of mankind, and the challenges that process
presents are astounding. However, issues related to
urbanisation are not isolated issues; they have a great
impact upon other areas of society. Similarly, other
challenges facedby the country, such as its ageing population,
food security, safety, environmental protection, all have an impact
upon or are influenced by the country’s urbanisation process.
This issue of Opportunity China explores some of the key issues
related to China’s urbanisation drive, while highlighting the
importance of other societal issues in the context of such huge
humanmigration.
