During thefirst fewweeks inUniversity accommodationmany
new studentsmake friends inanother part of campus, or prefer
facilities inadifferent building to theone theywereoriginally
allocated, andwant tochange rooms.
The early part of term is very busy and it is difficult for theAccommodationOffice to
handle such requests. Experience has shown that very soonmost students settle and
make friends in their accommodation and no longer wish tomove. For these reasons
from the start of theAutumn Term until the end of October, room changes are not
consideredor permitted. Vacancies arisingbefore that date are offered to any suitable
new applicantswho still have tobe housed on campus.
Please note that students are not permitted tomake informal exchanges of rooms,
or swap keys/swipe cards. All room transfersmust be arrangedwith, and authorisedby,
theAccommodationOffice. This is to ensure a new Licence is created so that each
resident is charged accurately.
