ComplaintsProcedure
Should you have any concerns or wish tomake a complaint, please take these
upwith the ResidenceOfficer for your building. If thematter is not resolved,
you can send your concerns inwriting to the Chief OperatingOfficer,whowill
normally respondwithin 5working days. (See exceptions in Licence.)
TheStudent Community
As a licensee you agree to abide by the
Charter, Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations
of the University.
Resident students form a community and,
like any other community, this depends
on itsmembers playing an active and
responsible role inmaintaining a safe
and healthy environment.As a provider of
accommodation, the University is also subject
to various acts of Statutory Legislation and
Codes of practice, covering suchmatters
as Health& Safety, Fire Equipment and Fire
Precautions.
TheChief OperatingOfficer’ and theSenior
ResidenceTutor are responsible for the
maintenance of discipline and good order
in the residences. It is their responsibility to
ensure that the University and statutory
requirements are followed and that behaviour
in accommodation is of an acceptable
standard.
The University Regulations for the discipline
of Students includes the Regulations on
Student Discipline. If you fail to observe or
comply in full with any of the Conditions
of Accommodation and Licence, youmay
be subject to the procedures andpenalties
outlined in theRegulations onStudent
Discipline, a copy of which is available
fromRegistry,The Student
Village - Reception,
Harriet Martineau
Building.
Keys/SwipeCards
Your keys/swipe cardswill be issuedwhen
you take possession of your room and
must not be given to anyone else, as this
constitutes a breach of security. Once you
have enrolled and received your Student
ID card, any temporary cardsmust be
returned.
If you lose your keys/swipe card youwill
be charged £10 for each replacement key/
swipe card (should you subsequently find
your keys/swipe card,wewill refund £10
per key/swipe card on production of the
receipt). If we need to replace your lock for
security purposes, this cost will be passed
on to you, and if you lose your temporary
swipe card, there is a charge of £10. If you
lose your Student IDCard, please contact
Information SystemsAston in theMain
Building as soon as possible.
When you leave the accommodation, you
must personally return keys/swipe card to
TheStudent Village - Reception,Harriet
Martineau - Reception - if you don’t return
your keys/ swipe card, youwill be charged
a daily proportion of the rent until they are
returned to amember of residences staff.
Key/swipe card collection pointswill be
notified to you before arrival.
