All campus accommodation is offered for the full duration of your
Licence period.Thismeans you are liable for all your accommodation
fees as per your on-line Bookings Detail page.You can stay in your
room during the Christmas and Easter vacations, if youwish. Under
very exceptional circumstances, youmay be required tomove to
another room, although every endeavour will bemade to ensure you
remain in your allocated room.
As a resident at The
Student Village, youwill
be expected to keep your
flat clean.The kitchens and
communal areaswill receive
regular cleaning, but youwill
be expected to help
maintain them.
If any of the cleaning
arrangements change,wewill try to let you
know in good time.A copy of the Facilities
Management Cleaning Schedulewill be
posted in all kitchens.
At regular intervals, staff fromResidential
Serviceswill visit all accommodation to
ensure Health and Safety standards are
maintained. Should your room require
additional cleaning, a chargewill bemade,
and if cleaning of communal areas is
necessary, the chargewill be apportioned
between the residents of the flat or corridor.
(Unless cleaning is necessary due to the
actions or fault of the University or its
employees.)
We ask all students to dispose of rubbish as
quickly as possible, and in an appropriate
manner, and not to let it accumulate in
study bedroomswhere it may pose a
health hazard. Pleasewrap broken
glass and tins in newspaper before
disposing of them, and please place
all other glass bottles and jars in the
bottle bank situated on
campus. Please use
recycling bins
where available.
En suite study bedrooms are providedwith
13-amp sockets.Any individual interfering
with a fuse box or wiringwill be subject to
disciplinary action.
Due to Health& Safety regulations, the
installation of electrical equipment with
cables that trail across rooms or into
corridors is prohibited, and studentsmay
not bring any form of additional heating or
refrigeration into residences.A personal
refrigerator, can be hired fromThe Student
Village Reception for £60 per residential year.
All kitchens are providedwith cooking and
refrigeration equipment, andAston Student
Village reserve the right to restrict the use
of other electrical equipment due to space
limitations.You are not permitted to use
electrical adaptors/extension leads ormulti-
plugs unless provided by Residential Services.
As a resident, you are responsible for
ensuring any electrical equipment you bring
into a Hall of Residence has been Portable
ApplianceTested.We randomly check that
portable electrical equipment has been tested
and is safe to use. Under the Electricity at
Work regulations,we are empowered to
disconnect or remove any equipment thought
to be unsafe.
